Like "Under the Tuscan Sun" this book drew me into the life of a Tuscan transplant-AND her family. Restoring the house was an adventure that started literally from the ground up. The author's appreciation of the villagers and their growing trust of Lisa and her family was the part of the story that drew me in. Her portrait of her teenaged daughter "the child Iseult" was hilarious and on point.
It may be too late for beach reading this year, but the book will prolong the summer for its readers.
