This book made me happy and sad. Being 53 is very trying, and even though you know you are not the first to experience getting older, it is still unique to you when it happens. And as Candida Wilton's story upfolds, you feel the despair as well as the resignation in her words. Even though I want to be alone a lot of the time, the thought of my last 3 of 7 children leaving my house for good, leaves me lonely. I feel like a mixed bag of knowledge and wisdom, confusion and questions, that aren't important to anyone, or needed anymore. But, I don't really care and that is good.
My dream trip would be to visit Italy, but not for the same reasons as Candida. I want to go for the artwork. Soon I hope.
