I enjoyed this book - Maxted takes on some heavy subject matter and handles it reasonably well, IMO. At times, the book was almost painful to read, but things worked out satisfactorily, I think.

I enjoyed Anna Maxted's other novel, so I'm looking forward to reading this one, too!

Okay, let me just put it out there that I ended up with the biggest crush on Andy by the end of this book.

I wasn't so sure about the novel when I first started it, but that was partly because I didn't know where the plot was going to go and partly because I was reading it at bedtime which meant some of the wittier writing was going over my head as I accidentally skipped every 17th word. But I ended up getting really into the story and I agree that the author handles some sort of heavy subject matter in a pretty good way. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for more Anna Maxted in the future!
