Journal Entry 1 by Mellow-Cello from Edinburgh, Scotland United Kingdom on Wednesday, August 11, 2004
I gave this to my husband for Christmas, and am into cricket enough to try it myself. I think I will find it interesting, particularly as I know very little about the game from the inside.

I enjoyed this autobiography as it covered a period in cricket that coincided with the start of my own interest in the sport. Cricket was undergoing significant change at this time, with the introduction of central contracts and the counties' gradual decline in power. Athers' view from the inside is fascinating, particularly the matter of fact way in which he describes the players and officials he dealt with along the way.
