Thanks so much! I received a release alert for this book yesterday, and was tempted to rush right out to pick it up - left a couple of miles from my house! But I thought, no, I'll restrain myself and give someone else a chance. So I waited till today, and took 2 books along to replace it. Felt perfectly comfortable going into my dentist's (although no one was in the reception area or waiting room when I walked in). Saw the book on the table, left my 2 there, and left happily.

I wanted to see this movie when it came out, but never got around to it. Read the reviews on Amazon, and most of them sound good. So I'll read this as soon as I can, and pass it on. Thanks again!

Really enjoyed this book. Makes me feel like I've visited Greece, even though there was a war going on. Still haven't seen the movie, but this makes me want to even more.

First 50-100 pages were a bit slow, but I definitely enjoyed spending time in Greece. And this definitely is an old-fashioned novel. Couldn't believe it was written in 1994, it made me feel like it had been written a long time ago.

10/17/05 update - Mailed to Antof9 for m-bag to NZ.

(Different cover than pictured)

Caught for the m-bag going to our friends in New Zealand.

Thanks, MaryZee! Yet another book I want to read first, before sending the m-bag off! I've not seen the movie, either, but wanted to read the book before I did so. . .

*sigh*

Thanks for your contributions to the m-bag, MZ -- I know our Kiwi friends will be happy to get our boxes and bags :)

Another convention M-bag arrived here in Dunedin last week and I am only getting them journaled now. Thanks so much MaryZee for sending the book and Antof9 for organising the bag, your contribution to our convention is greatly appreciated.

Another book that the boreal half of this bookshelf has read and enjoyed (even if she skimmed over the history parts to a certain extent!)

The photo shows a view of the Dunedin botanic gardens.

I have seen the movie and tried to give others a chance at the convention to pick this book up but it was still sitting there on Sunday at the convention farewell calling my name - somehow it made it into my bag!
