After losing his shirt in a shady Martian real estate scam, Fisk Centers needs a job. As a blackmarket adoption agent, a supersonic car salesman, a cemetary director, and a death insurance investigator, Fisk is a washout. But as a manager for his adopted daughter turned actress Yola, Fisk becomes an ethical, if not financial, success.

Hard Sell is not one of Piers Anthony's best. It feels like he probably wrote it in a weekend. His trademark humor is present (mainly in Yola's smart-mouthed comments) but it tends to fall flat. Overall a somewhat boring read.

Thanks for the book! Will journal again once it has been read!

From the back cover:

Who'd be stupid enough to buy real estate on Mars?

Who'd drive a supersonic car in a suicide race?

Who'd got to a robot mortician for a free sample embalming?

ANYONE WHO SURVIVES THIS KIND OF ABUSE IS EITHER A HERO OR A SUCKER. OR BOTH.

MEET MR. FISK CENTERS.

I agree that this is not one of Anthony's better works, but it was just silly enough to be entertaining.
