Anne Tyler writes books that are perfect for me. Families. Marriages. Relationships. Why do parents and kids not get along? What causes a kid to go wrong? How do marriages unravel? Tyler picks a family and tells the family's story; I feel like I'm walking at the track with Tyler as she tells me about some people she knows. No answers. No should-haves or ought-tos. Tyler simply tells the story of the family, slowly, moving around from person to person, in bits and pieces, without hype or show. I'm left with a deep sense of compassion for each character that seems to carry over into my real life.

Oh, I'm happy to have this new-to-me Anne Tyler - and such a nice HB!
I liked your sense of walking around the track with this author. Just returned from walking the track with teacher friends at lunchtime at the high school I retired from. Such good talking/walking time with friends!
Thanks so much, debnance!

Loved the chance to read this Anne Tyler. Thanks again, debnance!

What a blend of heart, sadness, misunderstanding, just-missing-the-mark in relationships, lifelong impacts (positive and negative) of family relationships - everyday life experienced over time.

Sending to BC friend redhouse.
