The Between Boyfriends Book: A Collection of Cautiously Hopeful Essays

This may well be the funniest book I've ever read! So funny in fact, I couldn't put it down. I finished the entire book in one evening! side splitting fall out of your chair funny. All 30 something singles will relate to this extremely funny candid look at dating. Author is a writer for HBO's 'sex in the city'. I highly recommend this book!
Thanks for dropping this off to me. It looks like something that's going to be really enjoyable. I'll have it ready for Puppetlady at the next meeting!
And for once I beat my deadline! I'm finished. Okay, now I can admit that when you first talked about the book I thought it was a novel! Ooops. I still really enjoyed some of the essays though. I didn't laugh out loud like you but I really did find a lot of the essays amusing. Maybe it's because I'm not quite thirty-something yet though it's creeping up on me quickly!
My personal favorites were way too many to mention but I think the best one is the essay entitled "Sports Dates". Okay, heck, I enjoyed them all!

Two Meet-ups ago icekween01 raved about this book and decided to start a ring. I got it in the mail today from soraidh, along with 2 books from another bookcrosser - what a day! Can't wait to read it!
I really enjoyed this book. Not having cable, I don't actually see Sex in the City, but I've caught an episode or two and found them funny. As a newly-single woman, it was a little scary to realize this is what the dating world is like - but I also feel not quite so alone.

I received this in the mail today and look forward to reading it! Thanks for sharing!
This collection of essays wasn't bad, but I didn't find it all that great. I enjoyed the author's definitions and observant descriptions of items in the dating world (some which are very creative!). I didn't enjoy the "Dating Horrorscope" section... it was just too repetitive and about nothing. Since some of these essays were written and published elsewhere years ago, I also think that some things should have been brought up to date (or at least to 2003 when the book was published), such as the sections talking about "breaking down and buying a car phone" and going out and "renting rollerblades".
Overall, I enjoyed reading the book, but it just isn't on my favorites list. Thanks for sharing this book!! This will be put in the mail to Apolonia tomorrow.

Just got this one in the mail today-thanks. I will leave another journal entry when I am finished.
I didn't think I would get to this one so quick, but I picked it up last night and started in on it, it's very easy reading. I had actually read some of it previously in Glamour, but enjoyed it again. As a hugh Sex in the City fan, I kept having flashbacks to the epidoses as some of the essays were I'm sure the inspiration for the show. I will be sending it out today to Twinkpuddin. Enjoy!
Came in the mail yesterday and started last nite!
Finished yesterday. A completely entertaining read. I'm a fan of Sex and the City as well, and that humor is definitely there. I am a bit partial to the NYC essays, living there, but got a little laugh out of all of them. And, although this has nothing to do with anything, I loved that she mentioned Door Cty, WI, because I grew up not too far from there. Sigh. Haha.
Have Wildflower67's address and will get it out soon! Thanks icekween01 for including me!

I finished this book today. It had it's moments of laugh-out-loud humor, but I found myself wishing it had dating stories from lots of different people instead of the same person throughout the book.
I PMed the next person and will mail it out as soon as I hear from her.

Mailed out yesterday.
This one arrived yesterday!! YEA!! Will start tonight & get it back on the road by next week... :O)
I finished this one last night & yes the stories were all quite hilarious...they were also all so true & I found myself tearing up at the unfairness of this whole concept of dating!! GRRRR...
aliaskris found a copy for herself so I have PM'ed irenic for an address...should have it back on the road this week...

This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. I could relate to most of the stories. I am going to go out and buy it, so I can read it over and over.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
Another bookray book has come to join the other lost books at the Lost Book Island Resort. This is a place where books that have apparently gotten lost in the mail can come to swap stories and enjoy life here in our tropical environment. There are free drinks to enjoy while sitting under a shady palm, long quiet walks to be taken on sandy beaches and lots of fun to be had both indoors and out. But like all of the books here at the Lost Book Island this book desires just one thing ... a journal entry. It is hoped thta the journal entry will come very soon so that others no longer wonder where this book is and what it has been doing these many long months. It is hoped that someday this book will be allowed to rejoin its bookray journey and collect more readers that desire to see the words within its pages.
Thank you jenn7747 for saving this ray!!!
