Journal Entry 1 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Saturday, July 24, 2004
This will be the new journal for the chick lit box, the other one was getting a little long and since I am making some changes, I thought we would be better off having a fresh journal.

There will be new participants see below for a full list in shipping order, which will continue to vary with each round.

Here are some new requests, reiteration of rules etc...

I am asking that everyone update or make a wishlist and post here telling where others can find that wishlist. This is to your benefit, that way others can see what you are looking for when they know you are after them on the list.

I am also going include in the box a form that lists books that have been in the box. Next to that will be a place for each of you to mark whether you have read that book or want to read it. After you have made your selections from the box, you will mark the books you are interested in or not interested. There will be space on the list for you to add the books you are putting in the box for others to mark whether they have read them or not. If everyone marks a book already read then that book will not need to go in the box again. This will help us avoid having books travel in the box that no one wants or needs. Once the box arrives and you see the form, it should make more sense.

I need to stress that we are not to use this box as our personal library, when you get the box, make your trades and pass it on. DO NOT read the books and put the same ones back in, if the list shows that others are looking for those books when the box comes back to you, then you may put them back in.

I am also concerned that we may be using this box as our sole means of acquiring chick lit, and while it is a great way to get these kind of books, eventually those books will be read by everyone and new ones will need to be acquired elsewhere for it. So please make an effort to get chick lit that has not been in the box before, you can use books that you got from this box to get new ones through trades and on bookrelay. I am always buying or trading chick lit in an effort to keep the contents fresh but I want you all to try and do the same, I think this will make for a much better experience for us all.

You are still allowed to keep the box only seven days from receipt, including weekends and holidays. So make sure you have your trades ready when the box comes, you will have plenty of notice that it is coming. There are many people waiting for this box, so be considerate.
I have been known to overlook this rule in the past, but with the number of people we have participating, I need to make this a priority, so if you foresee any reason why you would be unable to send it on in the alotted time, please pass on it or ask to be rerouted. Any changes in the routing order should be run past me first, before making those changes. Anyone who keeps the box longer than 7 days will be eliminated unless they have a VERY convincing excuse.

Everyone has been doing really well at putting only chick lit in the box, I am really very pleased with that. I have made sure that the new participants are only avid chick lit readers who know what chick lit is, so we shouldn't develop any problems in this area. If you do find books in the box which are not appropriate, please be sure to let me know.

The box will continue to operate the same way: when you are ready to send it back out, PM the person after you with the contents of the box, and they will have the option to pass or receive the box. Passing on the box will not necessarily exclude you from receiving it again in the future but if you continually pass on the box you will likely be eliminated to make space for others who are interested in participating. If at any time you do not want to participate in the box any longer, please let me know.

If any of you have concerns or questions you may email me at [email protected]

Hi all!

Am excited to be in on this - am really into the Chick-lit as of late!

My wish list is on my profile and will try to add more of the chick lit on there - I don't usually know what I want until I see it on the bookrelay but will head to the Barnes and Noble to find some!

If you all see anything on my shelf that you see as wanting - especially the girl after me :D - let me know and I'll include in there.

Can't wait to get started!
Steph

Fun, fun, fun!! More people = more new books!! Yea!! FYI -- I have a wishlist set up on Cliff's Site...the link is on my shelf...but seeing as how the entire list is WAY long, with many books that are NOT Chick-Lit, I've gone through and pulled out the ones that I believe ARE Chick-Lit. They are as follows:

I also want to add that, even if the book is not on my wishlist, if I haven't read it, there is a pretty good chance that I will snag it out of the bookbox...I'm game for almost anything!! :o)

Thanks for keeping this one going Booknose!! :o)

Journal Entry 5 by WarEagle78 from Opelika, Alabama USA on Sunday, July 25, 2004
Here we go again!

Booknose, I'm so glad you added a few names to the list. In the past my problem has been that the box return time has been just too quick to read much new chick-lit amongst my bookring obligations. But I have a good stack now, and will prioritize by TBR mountain by the wish lists of the rest of you. Based on what I've seen so far, I'd better get started on Slightly Settled pretty soon...

My wish list is on Cliff's site:
http://cliff1976.com/BC/BCWish.asp?BCUser=wareagle78
I don't have too very much chick-lit on it, but will keep updating. As before, I generally am interested in reading everything I can! I just have not ready that much CL, so anything's a treat.

Thanks, Booknose!

Journal Entry 6 by MandMsMom from Stamford, Connecticut USA on Sunday, July 25, 2004
Thank you so much Booknose for including me in this box. I am really excited to be a participant and already have a couple of books put away for the box when it comes my way. I also have noticed that a number of the things on others wishlists are on my bookshelf so I have a idea of how to prioritize my reading!

I have a wishlist on Cliff's site. The link is on my profile. It isn't too big but most of the chick lit is at the bottom of the list.

Chick lit is my favorite genre although I do enjoy reading women's fiction, memoirs and a cozy mystery every now again. I am happy to have a great new way of trading and refreshing my chick lit.

I look forward to meeting and sharing with everyone on the list!

Journal Entry 7 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Sunday, July 25, 2004
I am so glad to see everyone is checking wishlists and getting excited about the box, I think this will be a great round, I am still reading but I think we may have as many as 10 or 11 books in the box this round, I have a couple of strays that I can't seem to find a home for that I might include in there.

Here is my wishlist on Cliff1976: http://cliff1976.com/bc/BCWish.asp?BCUser=Booknose

I also have one which is pretty much identical but gets updated first on Amazon under my name: Lisa Fischbach and believe it or not there are actually two of us, so I am the one in Indiana.

Can't wait to get the box on the road, it will probably go out on Monday or Tuesday and I will post the contents here when it goes out.

Lisa

Journal Entry 8 by ramson from New Orleans, Louisiana USA on Sunday, July 25, 2004
Hi all,

Just checking in to say hello and thank you for including me in the box this go round. I have a wishlist set up on cliff's site and on amazon.com under the name ramson. They are generally pretty similar but I tend to add to the amazon one more frequently. Because both those lists have a whole lot more than just chicklit on them, I have pared down the lists and am posting just the chicklit portion here. I am feverishing reading away waiting for the box's arrival & hope I can fufill some of your wishes. Happy reading!

Journal Entry 9 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Sunday, July 25, 2004
I have one more late participant someone I wanted to include and thought that I had PM'ed about it, and evidently didn't, I sure wish they would invent a way to send the same message to multiple people, via PM. Anyway, I digress. The box will be going out on Tuesday, I have decided I am done reading for now, I have read 10 chick lit books in a row and I can't do anymore, hopefully some that I am sending on without reading will filter back to me at some point.
Here is the final participant list and shipping order. Let me know of any problems with this ASAP.
and Enjoy the box!! Lisa

I hate to make yet another journal entry for this box, it is quickly turning into one of the longest journals I have ever seen LOL, but I see I have neglected to post what will be in the box when I ship it out and I wanted to include that here, so here it is, there will be a total of 11 books, I thought that was fitting since we have 11 participants:

Journal Entry 14 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Wednesday, August 11, 2004
Just wanted to make a note that I have eliminated one of our participants from the box, since I have still not heard back from her after numerous PM's, Pchemphd will not be participating, I have edited the routing order in the first entry of this journal, but since edited journal entries don't go out to each person, I wanted to let you all know, in case anyone is looking at her wishlist for books to send.
Thanks!!
Lisa

At last it arrives and I am thrilled. I had been checking the tracking on the package so I knew today was my day. I stalked the poor mailman! Thanks to a terrible cold rain, I didn't want the package to sit outside for very long but I wasn't quick enough and the box still fell apart. Thanks Booknose for the incredible amount of work that you have put into this! I hope to put it back on the road by Monday

Journal Entry 31 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Monday, November 29, 2004
Just wanted to drop a note that this box arrived home safe and sound about a week ago.. I am going to be holding on to this until after the first of the year due to the holidays coming up.

There will be some changes that I will go into in greater detail later but the largest of which will be a publication date restriction. I am not entirely sure what it will be but at this point I am thinking orig. pub. date of 2000 or newer, and the other will be a change to trade paperback or hardback only. The exception to that rule will be if the book is on the very next person's wishlist and you have asked them if they will take it in mm pb form..

That said, other than just a few questionable books I was pretty happy with the results this go round. But, I think it will be a much better, fairer box for all of us, if we have a pub. date restriction that way we aren't getting all the books that we have all read before.. If anyone has any questions, complaints, suggestions etc.. now is the time to voice them, you can PM or Email me or post it here.. likewise if any of this changes your mind about participating let me know. I will be posting the shipping order very soon, so that you all can be checking wishlists and reading up, then when I ship it at the first of the year we should all be prepared...

Thanks so much to all of you who participated and included so many great books, I know I received several from my wishlist from the people before me, and I hope that you all did as well.

Take Care, Lisa aka Booknose

Journal Entry 32 by rem_ZWU-580656 on Tuesday, November 30, 2004
A question for all you ladies...(and I'm posting it here, because it is the easiest way to reach you all...see, just a bit lazy here...)

Who among all of you is interested in The Solomon Sisters Wise Up by Melissa Senate? I currently have it in my hands but I've traded it off on the Red Dress Ink Relay...it is going to SandDanz...but I'm trying to think of all of you here who might still want it...I've asked SandDanz if I could include 4 extra stamps and the right to choose who it goes to next...so basically one of you will get it next, if you want it...or at least I hope it will work like that...lol

If you are still looking for this, just send a PM my way...I'll make note, and do my best to help it in it's further travels...

Thanks for your time!!

Happy Reading & Holidays to all!! :O)

Journal Entry 33 by Booknose from Henryville, Indiana USA on Tuesday, November 30, 2004
Erica,
I have been looking for The Solomon Sisters Wise Up for a while I am fairly certain it will show up at some point but if you could make it happen sooner, more power to you! LOL Actually, Sandanz lives only about 20 miles from me, in the town I grew up in.

While I am here and making yet another entry in this poor overflowing journal.. What would all of you think if I started a Yahoo group for this box, where we could post when we receive it and send it, with the contents, we could list our wishlists in the database, even do extra stuff like Chick lit bookrings of books we'd all like to read, it would be a lot easier for us all to communicate etc..
This is something I hadn't thought about since I original started to box and back then we only had four participants. Ryanreader mentioned it to me and with so many of us now I thought it might be a good idea..
Anyway, let me know your thoughts by emailing me at [email protected] or PMing me.. or posting here, whatever works best for you.
Happy Reading,
Lisa

Journal Entry 34 by rem_ZWU-580656 on Thursday, December 9, 2004
Another journal to make note to all...lol...sorry...just FYI - I'd like to invite all of you to visit my bookshelf...and you will find a link near the top of "Chick-Lit to Share"...well...that is for ya'll...I'm going to use it for the older books that are in my possession...I probably won't ship immediately upon somebody asking for something - but when a book is ready to travel I will list it there...make sense?

Also - SandDanz is contacting you Booknose for The Solomon Sisters once she has finished with it...so it will be back in BookBox circulation sometime in the near future...

That's all for now gals...later!! :O)

~~ Erica

Hi Girls, I started the Yahoo Group for this box. I have sent invites to those of you, who I have an email address for and those who accept messages.
This is who I need email addresses for
Wareagle78
Ryanreader
Midwestgal
Ramson
Just send me an email [email protected] and I will send you an invite, but make sure you are set up to accept invitations, if you don't know how to check let me know and I will send you an address so that you can join the group without receiving an invitation.
I tried to send invitations to
Ariesgirl29 & Jendudley but you all are not accepting invitations, so I will send you a link so that you can join the group without an invitation.
Hope to see you all there.

I love this journal! I am going to peruse it and include a journal entry in the actual journal, as well, before I ship the chicklit box off this weekend. :)

The contents of the box have been updated in the Yahoo database. I plan to ship the box to Eva/midwestgal on Friday or Saturday unless she wants me to skip her.

Are you sure you want to delete this item? It cannot be undone.
