The first "official" book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series (Fantasy Lover being the prequel), Night Pleasures introduces a series of "vampire" books that offer a new twist on an old idea. Kenyon has created a fascinating world of vampires, demons, and shapeshifters that is entertaining and original. Grounded in classic myth, these stories are well-written and have a bit more depth than the average paranormal romance or pulp-vampire novel. The Dark-Hunters are servants of the goddess, Artemis, who have traded their souls to her for a single act of vengeance. Thereafter, their mission is to eternally hunt Daimons---soul-sucking creatures who prey upon the human race. These books are hip, flashy, violent, and sexy as hell. I recommend them highly!
