something clever and lighthearted to balance out all the heavier stuff I read....

Journal Entry 2 by wingMmeClintonwing from South Berwick, Maine USA on Sunday, August 1, 2004
If you visualize Ellen speaking the lines she writes, it will indeed come out pretty funny... she is, after all, a stand-up comedian. I kept seeing her as she appears in the really great attraction Universe of Energy at Epcot in Disney World, where her particular zany humor works really well. I have put this book up on a Relay Index; if it goes to the morgue in ten days, then I will make a new release note on it and leave it out in the wild! So go to the Relay Index site to claim it!

This arrived just the other day. How exciting. Some of the first few chapters didn't strike me as all that funny, but around page 50 I found myself laughing out loud. I'm half way through, and I think that this book will redeem itself nicely.

As you read this one you can visualize Ellen sitting in front of you... speaking right to you. It was a good but, but I had already seen the HBO special so this is old material. Still funny though.. I am pm eeyore75 and hopefully this will be in the mail this week.

I was not as impressed with this book as I thought I'd be. I like Ellen's humor, but there were only a few times I really laughed (my favorite line - "Well, that bra makes your ass look fabulous!") and I guess I was expecting more. It seemed like most of the book talked about the book . . . for example she talked a lot about buying her book, or what you'd want to see in her book, or what the chapter was going to be about, etc. It got kinda old to me.

Received it two days ago and started reading yesterday. It looks like a quick read. Thanks for sharing!

I am PM'ing FLAKES for their address today. I love Ellen, but the book is just not my kind to read ~ it's hard to follow with the way she writes it. Thanks for sharing, though!

Journal Entry 16 by Flakes from Bloomington, Illinois USA on Tuesday, June 21, 2005
Arrived today, safe and sound. This looks like a quick, easy read. I'll start it tomorrow and send it on to follygirl ASAP!:)

Journal Entry 17 by Flakes from Bloomington, Illinois USA on Friday, June 24, 2005
I love Ellen, and I really enjoy her "stream of consciousness" comedy. This book had the same feel to it, and sometimes it seemed as though Ellen was actually rambling to stretch the length of the book!

This book was light and fun. Thanks for sharing, anderal!:) I'll be sending this off to follygirl today.

Journal Entry 18 by wingfollygirlwing on Wednesday, June 29, 2005
the book arrived today. It will be a quick read and then on its way to dodau!

Journal Entry 19 by wingfollygirlwing on Friday, July 1, 2005
It was a quick read. I enjoyed it and could hear Ellen saying the words too. Some one liners made me laugh out loud, but I found it tedious in spots. I think I would prefer this as an audiobook but I am happy I had a chance to read it, thanks Anderal!

I will be mailing this to dodau ASAP.

Journal Entry 20 by dodau from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 12, 2005

I find Ellen a bit hit and miss with her comedy. Her tv show named after her was a miss but her stand up is normally very good. This book was a bit in the middle, quite funny but not brilliant.

Journal Entry 24 by PrincessJCM on Friday, August 12, 2005
I thought some of the book was funny but not all of it. I did read it with Ellen's voice in my head and that made it more entertaining. I did laugh out loud about the public bathroom comments and trying to find the start of the t.p. and the sensors on the sinks/toilets. Another "lol" moment was her comments about fitting rooms and the attendants :-) But I would definitely recommend her first book over this one.
