In this book, Pearl S. Buck presents a graphic view of a China when the last emperor reigned and the vast political and social upheavals of the twentieth century were but distant rumblings.It is the story of the honest farmer Wang and his selfless wife O-lan.
This book is on its journey to JDT.
It's been years since I read this book, but I remember it had a powerful impact on me.
Looking forward to re-reading it - and enjoying the center illustrations and photos, that I don't think we're in my original book.

I really enjoy Pearl S. Buck's writing style. The character of O-lan especially moved me - her selflessness and courage throughout everything made me very deeply sad for her plight. I do think Wang Lung realized in time what a wonderful wife he had in O-lan but it was too late by then.
