Have I mentioned I love this guy? He's riotously funny, irreverent in all the best ways.

This one is next up on my TBR pile.

Clearly this is an author I'm going to be glad I was introduced to (there is NO way I can make that sentence not end in a preposition withough sounding high-falutin)! Thanks for the fun double prize :) I'm honored :)

Thanks for running a great challenge! You were a gracious host with just the right amount of snerking and silliness (I'm still chuckling at the "incumbents have it easier" comments). Thanks for a fun way to celebrate the privelege of voting, thanks for a reminder to do it, thanks for keeping the sourpusses out of the challenge, etc.! Sorry it wasn't your guy, and now I'm off to add two new books to the TBR pile!

Journal Entry 6 by Antof9 from Lakewood, Colorado USA on Monday, February 21, 2005
This book was SO entertaining! The best word I could think of to describe it was "irreverent". I don't even know when I would have gotten to it, but I had a request for it, so moved it up on the TBR :) And I'm glad that happened! Now I have a new author to add to my wish list. . . .

There were many funny parts to this book -- but the quirky little things got me the most -- Sam trying to rhyme "Gabriella", Yiffer's son being named "J. Nigel Yiffworth, Esquire", and the clothing choice Sam makes to go visit the Indian artifacts collector.

I also enjoyed the "indian legend" stories woven throughout the book. They were pretty funny. The story about the Great Spirit giving names out to the animals cracked me up, especially this paragraph: When the sun went down Coyote looked all over for a good espresso bar, but even in those days they were full of pretentious pseudointellectual animal people who sat around in open-toed moccasins and whined about how unfair the world was, which it wasn't. "I don't have the stomach for that," said Coyote. "I think I'll just score some magic wake-up powder and stay wired that way."

I don't think I've ever read anything like this, and I'm thrilled to have been introduced to this author. Thanks again for the fun challenge, and for the entertaining prize, advoc84justice! This book and Cancer Schmancer will be headed off to Hellie once I finish that book too.

I finally wrote the journal entry for the Fran Drescher book, so these two are getting in an envelope today and heading across the pond!

Thanks again for introducing me to Mr. Moore!

Sending to Hellie by request.

Thanks, this looks great, I have heard great things about this author, and seems you agree!
I am especially looking forward to this as have been to Montana (2003) and around the area of the Crow and various other Indian reservations...
Will read ASAP and journal again then!

This book was just wonderful - so much different form anything else I've read, yet I loved it.

Loved all the native Indian stuff, was out in montaa last year and evven in Crow Agency!
Also loved the fact that it set partly in Santa Barbara and partly inLas Vegas as been there too.
The references to Custer in rekation to the iNdians were very clever - been to Little Bighorn and was amazing to picture what they are talking baout!
It is very far fetched, almnost sci fi, yet somehow it works, in avery humorous way! The whole thing is just very clever I thinlk, and yes I have to agree with AntoF9's comments, highly irrevernt, yet he gets away with it!
Thanks so much for sharing!

Will be looking to read more of Christopher Moore's work...
This will be passed on to a fellow Bxer soon....
