That this was one of the Book Crossing "free" books interested me and I am looking forward to reading it.
What a strange book this is indeed!! It has a most verbose style which is quite alienating at the beginning, and most off-putting. However, after awhile, the style does settle down and there really are some quite incredible suggestions being made in the text.
Without giving too much away, this is a story which examines identity, how we construct our identity and how this impacts on others.
Through drug induced halucinations the central character, Sam/Ransom morphs from a man to a ram. To fully appreciate the story, maybe a few drugs would have helped.......who knows......
Definitely a mixture......

You won't believe this, but on "60 Minutes" on Sunday night I saw the man who IS "Wild Animus"!!!!! His name was Timothy Treadwell and he was an American obssessed with grizzly bears and for 13 years (until he was killed by the bears) he lived each summer with a group of bears in Alaska. His story WAS the story told in "Wild Animus", right down to his waitress girl friend, drug taking habits etc........very scary!!!!! At least it lends a little more credence to the events in the novel.
