On it's merry way to cestmoi.
Arrived today! Thanks mojosrisin2. Will journal again soon.
A fun, fast paced thriller. Very many similiarities to Angels and Demons - not just in plot but in characters. A few implausibilities in the plot (I don't want to put any spoilers up here...) but without them the action wouldn't have run quite so smoothly.
Still very little character development of Robert Langdon - but again, that's normal for thrillers. I enjoyed all the history in the novel, both the real and the fictional, and found myself running to look up facts or finding Da Vinci's work on the internet so I could see what the characters were talking about. I always think any novel that makes me want to learn more about "something" is a good thing...so in spite of its few flaws and its lack of imagination in some places - I think if people read The Da Vinci Code for all the hype...and then want to learn more about Da Vinci as a result....it's an extra bonus :)
Thanks for sharing this with me Mojosrisin2. It will be going to another bc'er in my little group here in Toronto.

Thank you, cestmoi! I have been wanting to read this (like the rest of western civilization) for ages. My friend ZeeBee first recommended it to me when it had just come out.
Read this a couple of weeks ago and forgot to make a journal entry. I have to say that I did not really enjoy it. In fact, I was forcing myself through it most of the way, and I ended up not reading the last 100 pages. At one point in my life, I would have loved this book. I used to love John Grisham books, and that's what this reminded me of. But that's not what gets me going when I'm reading these days, so this was just not my cup of tea. There were several parts of the book that were just plain irritating to me (the bank account number scene, the backwards writing scene,....) and I didn't care one bit for any of the characters.
Maybe my expectations were just too built up, like when there has been too much hype about a new movie and it's just disappointing once you get around to seeing it.
Thanks, cestmoi, for thinking of me, and passing this along to me. At least now I will know what everyone is talking about when they start discussing this book.

Loved it! It (of course) came at a perfect time. I was looking for something to read, and had just been watching too many David Icke videos. Also, the night before I got it from Ri, a friend told me "out of the blue", that I HAVE to read this book. For me, the uniqness of the plot (I guess I haven't read too many thrillers) and the good ol' conspiracy theory stuff kept me right in there.
