The Sewing Circles of Herat
4 journalers for this copy...
A bit of clever marketing this, the book actually only spends ten/fifteen pages dealing with the said sewing circles. Still an interesting travel-biogrhy of Afghanistan.
Released on Tuesday, June 08, 2004 at Leeds Meet in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England United Kingdom.
Taking with me to The Angel Inn tonight for release.

Snaffled at Leeds meetup...looks like a really interesting book. Thanks for sharing Nia! I shall hopefully get around to this soon
UPDATE: 04/04/06
I am never going to read this book...nothing personal just have far too many that I picked up in my first flush of Bookcrossing, and have since ignored. This is going to a new home.

A fascinating book, more or less a history of Afghanistan from ancient times to today, concentrating on the rise, reign and fall of the Taliban and looking predominately at the people - from family torn apart by battles to the leaders of the country. The opening chapter talking about the atrocities committed by the Taliban was compelling, and the rise of Hamid Karzai. An interesting read.

This was recommended to me when I read The Kite Runner, but I never got round to it. I nearly snatched it out of Gothmarcus' hand as he put it on the table, so thanks for sharing and I hope I didn't damage too many fingers!!
