Within the last two months, I heard David Baldacci speak (if you have the chance to hear him in person, try not to pass it up - he's excellent!) and decided then and there to read one of his books. I bought _Absolute Power_ from Amazon.com, and found it a real page-turner. I'm glad I waited to see the movie that Clint Eastwood made, based on the book, because while the film is okay, seeing it rather than reading the book would be to miss several interrelated subplots that make for a much richer experience than simply watching yet another Clint Eastwood movie.

About two weeks ago (toward the end of May) I handed the book along to S. P., who works for me at Heartland Community College, who said that his mother would enjoy reading it. So far, I've not heard any more about it. 6/11/04
