This is the first book I read of author Jane Green. This is also my first bookray book! This story follows Jemima and her struggles with weight, love, and friendship. Although parts of the story made me cringe because of the anti-body image messages it sent, I think it ended nicely and definately got me curious on her other books! Enjoy!!

Here is the order of the bookray! PM the person after you to get their address!

I passed this on today without having finished it. The narrator and her obsession with her weight and her twisted view that if only she were thin her life would be just perfect just frustrated me, and since I've had the book almost a month already, I decided it would be better to pass it on. I definitely had higher hopes for this (which is why I signed up for the bookray), but thanks for the opportunity to give it a try, anyhow!

Looking forward to reading this since I've heard so many mixed reviews. I'll journal again when finished. Thanks!

I expected to hate this book after several of the reviews I read, but I ended up enjoying it as much as the average chick-lit novel. It was vastly better than some drivel (I have bad memories of a Sue Margolis novel), but couldn't touch the good chick-lit out there (Jennifer Weiner, Marian Keyes, etc.) Like some of the other readers, I felt that the novel was a bit too weight-obsessed. I also felt it was unrealistic to have the main character lose as much weight as quickly as she did and not suffer health problems.

Overall, a nice fluffy veg-out book, but not something I'd bother recommending to anyone.

It'll be on its way to BigBird2002 this afternoon. Thank you dnsvm for sharing your book!

This will be my second book by this author, the first being an audio book. I am interested to find out how my views may differ or be the same as the others that have read this so far. I will start the book today or tomorrow.

I LOVED this book! I have tried some other chick-lit and really hated it, so I was not sure how I was going to like this one. This was definately a book that was hard to put down. Although I didn't like some of the body image messages sent, the fact is that a lot of people do view heavy people negatively and thin people as beautiful. I thought the ending was great!

I received this on either Thurs. or Fri. but didn't get a chance to register it until now. I have one other bookring ahead of this, but it shouldn't take long.

On its way to Raquelsita!

I loved this book! I had already read "Mr. Maybe", but wasn't that thrilled with it, so I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. A lot of people who are seriously overweight really are this weight-obsessed.

Just arrived in the mail today. I am reading another bookring right now, but will start this one as soon as I'm finished.

Since I didn't enjoy Mr. Maybe very much I didn't expect to enjoy Jemima J. that much either. But in all it is a better read than Mr. Maybe. Some things I thought were a little hoaky...like the omnipresent voice that would pop up every once in a while. And it's a bit unbelievable that she lost SO much weight in so little time and had no flabby skin b/c of it. But I guess that's the beauty of fiction!

MandMsMom asked to be skipped, as she has already got a copy of the book. So I guess this makes me last on the ray...now I just have to decide what to do with the book!

Thanks dnsvm for sending this out!

Rcvd 12-12/finished 12-24.

I really liked the concept of this book, but the story turned out to be a little odd. I really didn't care for the whole California storyline. That was just weird. I thought the author focused too much on certain aspects of the story, and just kinda skimmed the more interesting parts.

The ending was pretty good, but compared to how slow the rest of the story was, it really just slams to a halt.

Thank you raquelsita for sharing this book! I PM'ed the next member on the list for her address & will get this out to her soon.

Just received in today's post. Will be reading after the small mountain of TBRs next to my bed. I really enjoyed one of this author's other novels: MR. MAYBE.

Enjoyed much more than Mr. Maybe. Great fast-paced read. Unrealistic in the amount of weight she lost and kept off in such a short amount of time but hey that is why it is fiction. :-)

7/05 sorry I have had this one so long, really got behind in reading when my husband suddenly took ill and passed away in early April. Thank you all for being so kind and patient.

I enjoyed this book, though I did agree with others that the scope of Jemima's weight loss was a bit unbelievable.

I can't find teenage-fairie so I will make this available for whatever comes its way.
