Amazing:)
From back cover:
"The first novel in Jean M. Auel's magnificent epic sweeps the reader back 25,000 years to a cold ancient time when two kinds of humans beings, Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon, shared our world. Its herione is Ayla, a courageous and indomitable young woman whose story begins when she is a five-year-old orphan adopted by the Clan, a group of Neanderthals.
Ayla inspires first surprise, then wariness and finally acceptance by the Clan. She is cared for by its medicine woman Iza and its wise holy man Creb. But she makes an implacable enemy of the group's future leader. Broud does all he can to destroy her, but Ayla is a survivor."

Thanks LadyChass, I'll send this on to ReadingFairy asap. I've read this one before, and much as I would love to re-read, I don't have the time right now. But I do remember being thoroughly gripped by the story and also by the characters, who are all very strongly written.

I've read the first 4 chapters of this book and found it quite hard to get into. Its not because its badly written or there is anything wrong with it, its just that its not my kind of book. For this reason i'm not going to rate the book and i'm going to pass it on and step out of the spiral. I'm sure its a good book, loved by many people by the sound of it, but its just not my cup of tea. So i hope everyone else enjoys it. I'll be sending on asap.
Thanks LadyChass for the opportunity to participate anyway.

Apologies for the delay in journalling, things are a bit hectic here currently!

I will get to this as soon as I can but I have a stack of ring books at the moment and no time to read them atm!
