Although a book for teens, I found this book to be poignant and a good read! The story William's and his sister's struggles to survive without their mother, their kind neighbour that takes them in all kept me deeply engrossed. Although this book portrays William and his sisters as black and their neighbour as white, there were no colours in this book. A lesson many adults can learn!
Definitely recommended!
