Have had this for a while but apparently neglected to register it.

This might fill the bill as a mindless 'beach read' but even that is a stretch. The story revolves around Rachel, just-turned-30 Manhattan lawyer, and her best friend, Darcy, who was totally unsympathetic. Rachel's 30th birthday party is a big bash but through a series of events, Rachel ends up blitzed and in bed with Darcy's fiancé, Dex. If you're okay with a so-called good girl/ rule follower carrying on an affair with her friend's fiancé, read on. I really should have quit there because nothing improved. Rachel is whiny and totally clueless. She *knows* that Darcy has repeatedly shown herself as untrustworthy and self-centered and treats her like dirt and still is her friend. Darcy is wholly unsympathetic. She has no redeeming qualities. Finally, there's Dex, the fiancé. He is an utter ass. He carries on this affair for months and strings along Rachel. All I can think when he appears is "Cheater, cheater, cheater!" There are a few nice characters (mostly minor players like Ethan).
