I got this book, from the "Chet and Bernie" series, at a local thrift shop's "books for 30 cents a pound" sale. The books feature Chet - the narrator, a dog - and his pal Bernie, a human police officer with what sounds like a rather messy personal life. (Also, the series seems inclined towards punny titles {grin}.) In this one, Bernie has been hired to keep an eye on the Hollywood bad-boy who's currently starring in a movie that's being filmed nearby - and Chet's not too keen, as the actor has his beloved cat Brando with him. And things do not go smoothly in other respects, either; can Chet and Bernie stay on top of it all?
There are different styles of human/animal mystery novels; this one seems to feature a more-realistic-than-most characterization of Chet the dog, who - while quite intelligent and aware and able to understand human speech - thinks of things in dog-terms, including finding his owner perfect despite the other humans' intimations to the contrary. And Chet doesn't talk to Bernie other than in the way any dog could communicate with its person. (Bernie himself shades from "pretty savvy" to "clueless" - but then, he isn't the star!)

I'm adding this book to the DUETS bookbox (bookbox journal here), as part of a "part of clothing in the title" duet ("collar").

This book arrived in my DUETS Bookbox.......I'm not familiar with this series, but I can't resist a dog solving mysteries. Added to my TBR shelf.
This was a fun light mystery, alot of interactions between Chet (dog) and Bernie (human - PI). Makes me wonder what my dog is thinking ........
I would definately read more by this author....thanks for sharing.
