Had a book token to spend and enjoyed a lovely 20 minutes in Waterstones picking something to add to my TBR list. Looking forward to reading it.

Yes! Just what I needed over the festive period - a ruddy good fantasy.

Set in a world where Angels can be called upon to help in daily tasks (even if they aren't the most co-operative), four young people are drawn together by the little bit of one particular angel that resides within them. Not that they know this - they're drawn into some odd encounters, pushed to be in the right place, at the right time, by Lilliath - a young lady with her own secrets. Keeping herself young for hundreds of years, in an enchanted sleep, hidden in the vaults beneath the city, she has her own reasons for coming awake. Something that she started a long time ago needs to be finished, and she'll bend everyone to her will to do it.

I just loved this. The world building was fabulous, even if the coercion of reluctant angels was a bit uncomfortable. The characters were great too - none over the top, all with their own identity and not one was introduced that didn't have a real part to play. The reason's behind Lilliath's actions were a little nebulous, and I only got it after reading over it a couple of times (might just be me!), but I actually thought it was pretty clever - what would happen when an emotional teenager discovers so much power?

I'd so love there to be other stories set in this world - I want to know how Ystara is rebuilt, how the truth is accepted by the populace and how our heroes get on after. And to me, that's the best endorsement for a book.
