Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor - Good

Ah, what a find! Heather brought this to our last meetup specifically for me as she thought it would appeal. She knows me so well!

Set in a fantasy version of our world where a group of highly trained historians can jump into the past to verify events and bring back knowledge. Of course, this is highly classified and very dangerous. Not least because there are people from the future coming back to the present (and the past) trying to subvert them. Confused yet?

This reminded me of Jasper Fforde and the Thursday Next series (especially the bit about dodos). It is a mostly light hearted (although there are one or two gruesome bits) romp through 11th century London, the Somme, the Cretaceous period and the destruction of the Library at Alexandria with a lot of action and a bit of romance.

Although this book is registered at www.bookcrossing.com, you don't have to be a member. It's perfectly OK to just take the book and enjoy it.
