I loved this story right from page one. Sometimes a book just resonates with you and that was this book. I liked that it was told in both past and present time and through the voices of the five main characters. I changed my mind several times on whose story this actually was and in the end I believe that it was all of their story. I will be looking for more Claire Douglass books.

Thanks for saving this for me!

I really enjoyed this mystery. Not too heavy, not light - plausible enough and very realistic. Tom and Saffy are renovating a house that she inherited from her mother and grandmother and the builders find a dead body in the back yard. Then the police find another one. The murders seemed to have happened while Saffy's grandmother was living in the house in the 70's but her grandmother now has dementia so getting the details from her is difficult.
It's as much about the mystery as it is about the relationships between mothers and daughters; difficult, confusing and conflicting - but love (eventually) overrides all that in this novel.
Oh, and they solve the mystery!
