This is a terrific debut novel from New Zealand born Jacqueline Bublitz, now residing in Oz. With a unique premise and skillfully portrayed, complex characterization this is an enthralling read.

Caught today at Redgum Cafe meetup. Taken away for a fellow tagger, however this sounds like a book I should read first.
Edited Jan 2024 -
I started this last night and finished it today as I am currently housebound with Covid.
An excellent read. It is about the murder of a girl in New York, but so much more. A parallel stories of two girls, Australian Ruby Jones and American Alice Lee, who both arrive in New York at the same time, both fleeing unhealthy relationships.
I loved the individual stories of their lives and how the writer took us forward to the time when their lives intersected, and how it impacted both their lives (and death).
The story is more about finding the identity of the unknown victim “Riverside Jane”, rather than focussing on the murder. I liked the way the writer used her knowledge of New York to paint the scenes for the reader, and the New York locals who befriended one or both of the girls. A few tears shed at the end.
