I found this tiny hardcover, with cute lighthouse-charm on the bookmark, in this Little Free Library in Amherst NH while dropping off some books of my own. For such a small book it contains quite a bit of information about the history of lighthouses around the world, interspersed with photos of many different examples. There are even notes on the technology of maintaining lights (and sometimes sounds) sufficient to warn ships even in the stormiest weather. (One of my favorite lighthouses, the Nubble on Cape Neddick in York, Maine, appears here on pages 76-77!) There are also quotes about lighthouses, and anecdotes about specific lighthouse keepers - plus a few tales of alleged hauntings...
