One of many books that I recently acquired for the purposes of sharing it with others.

read The Sparrow over 7 years ago and remember well being blown away by it and the general plot. I have had this sequel on my shelf for over 5 years meaning to read it at some point, yet always certain it would disappoint. I think that, like Emilio, I was afraid of what I would find in a return to Rakhat. Like him, I am glad to have made the journey although I don't know that it has brought me the answers he was able to find.

For some time now I have found myself, like Emilio, wrestling with God and trying to understand what He wants of me and why He has brought me to this point which seems contrary to so much of what I thought He wanted. I am often torn as to the reality of God and the purpose of faith and the place for either concept in an increasingly hostile world. I will be thinking about this book and it's lessons for some time because there are answers there, incomplete and imperfect.

There is a point in the book where it states that the central purpose of the story is the birth of 3 children and the unshakeable truths and earthshattering change they represent. I can accept that and the solution of harmony arising from much that was misunderstood and misbegotten. As Anne was a touchpoint for me in The Sparrow, Ha'anala was a touchpoint for me in this book. And as the title of The Sparrow reflected the fact of God's awareness of the individual, the title Children of God reflects the importance of the aggregate and the family it represents. The key is to balance the two. And to see, with the gift of time, where God has been.

I read The Sparrow eons ago, and while the details are fuzzy, remember that I really liked it. I am 98% sure I read this, too, but somehow didn’t journal it. I need to do some investigations and refreshing and will either recall, read, or re-read, but will definitely release this book to find a new reader. Thank you for thinking of me!

I feel a little like Emilio Sandoz (minus the brutality he suffered) in that it's been probably 15 years since I last read this book, and even longer since I read The Sparrow. Even so, both tell a remarkable task, and have left me with quite a few thoughts swirling around in my head (which is already crowded enough.) I'd like to be articulate and thoughtful in this note, but we're on a quick getaway down the shore, and the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean calls. I will probably release this book while we're here in NJ-- yet another state for it find a reader. Thanks again for thinking of me and sending it on!
