Purchased at Wonder Book and Video in Gaithersburg, MD, to read.

Another excellent Harry Bosch story. This book forms the basis for one of the primary threads of the second season of the Amazon Prime TV series "Bosch", which I recognized very soon after starting the book. So I knew the ending of the story very early on...or so I thought. As with much that has been adapted from the books to the TV show, they changed some things, including a lot of the details about the ending of this particular investigation. So while I knew part of the solution, one of the primary suspects in the TV show turns out to be a very minor character here, without any meaningful part to play. So, I got to enjoy being surprised after all.

This particular story centers around an apparent organized crime killing, with the body left in the trunk of his car in the hills above the Hollywood Bowl. When Harry's investigation takes him to Las Vegas, he discovers that his old flame, Eleanor Wish, is out of prison and working as a professional poker player. As he works his case, they reconnect and their relationship is renewed. But Harry's investigation is about to hit a significant wall, and the fallout could threaten to end his career. Can he figure out who the real killer is before he is saddled with the blame for planting evidence? You'll have to read to book to find out.
