I can see why this is a bestseller. The author seems to have done a fair bit of research and a lot of people will read it thinking it's all true. But it was a bit too much of an "airport" novel for me - stereotypical characterisations and a bit overwritten. However,I read it all anyway. A good book to take on holiday with you.

My daughter passed it to me. I didn't want to read this book as I mostly avoid best sellers but I'm glad I made an exception in this case. The book had all of the elements of a good thriller ( a genre I enjoy between "heavy" books )whilst adding to my general knowledge in an entertaining way. The writing style was somewhat cliched and I disliked the authors use of italics to emphasise the obvious as it made me feel like a schoolboy, but, that aside, I felt compelled to keep reading in the best thriller tradition and was drawn to research some of the more obscure references. This can only be good.

The rating was given for a book of this genre; I have rarely read better

MY NIECE PASSED THIS BOOK ON TO ME AND I AM SO GLAD SHE DID. HAVING HEARD ALL THE HYPE ABOUT THE BOOK I MUST SAY I WAS CURIOUS BUT READING THE GEN ON THE BACK COVER DID LITTLE TO ENTICE ME! HOWEVER I HAVE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT AND READ IT AT GREAT SPEED...THE CLICHE 'A REAL PAGE TURNER' COULD NOT BE MORE APT. NOT OVERLY WELL WRITTEN BUT INTRIGUING AND FASCINATING. I LEARNT LOTS OF STUFF TOO!
