I picked this unregistered copy up at the November York BookCrossing meetup because I haven't read much 21st century American fiction recently and I thought I should try to broaden my horizons. I rather wish I hadn't bothered, or at least had chosen a female author instead. This is obviously a Very Important Man Book (you can tell by the way there's no punctuation, the main characters are all men, and the fact that there are chapters dedicated to descriptions of guns) so I doubt if I'm the real target audience, but it's quite disappointing that books like this are still being lauded as great works of fiction in this day and age. It consists of little more than various rough-arsed blokes running around in deserts and motels, killing each other and spouting homespun philosophy in between shootings.
I mean, I recently read a book by a man published in the 1930s that had better female representation. Doesn't seem like progress to me.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
To be released at the December York BookCrossing meetup.

Apparently originally written as a screenplay, it has quite an odd disjointed style. Rather nihilistic, worth an experience to read but was probably better as a film...
