I got this book at a local thrift shop. This one's the source of the 1955 film starring James Dean. I haven't seen that film, and haven't read this book; while I did enjoy Travels with Charlie, I find Steinbeck's more serious books too painful, and am not tempted to explore this one. If somebody posts a glowing review someday I may have to rethink that {grin}.
