Journal Entry 1 by ComradeCamper from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin USA on Saturday, November 19, 2022
I read this book during the Summer Reading Program (2022) at my local library, so I was astonished to see that this book -- less than two years after publication -- was already being withdrawn from the library's collection.
I found it to be a very full, thorough description of the protagonist, Ray Carney. Carney is a man who's trying to take care of his family, trying to run an honest business, trying to do the right thing. But sometimes "the right thing" can be murky, and sometimes different members of his family have competing interests. Life gets complicated.
I also thought this was an intriguing picture of Harlem in the early 1960's.
Find this book somewhere very near you, very soon, and let me know what you think.
