I also decided to learn Swedish more or less on a whim, so I spent a lot of this book thinking "JUST LET THE POOR LAD LEARN SWEDISH IF HE WANTS FFS". That said, I did enjoy it. It reminded me of George Saunders' Pastoralia. And I liked the word play. I'd be interested to know what someone who doesn't read Swedish would make of it.
