On a farm outside Pretoria, the Swarts are gathering for Ma's funeral. The younger generation, Anton and Amor, detest everything the family stand for - not least the treatment of the black woman who has worked for them her whole life.
Winner of the 2021 Booker Prize I really struggled to get into this book and didn't finish it which is something I rarely do. Chapters and paragraphs might have helped.
The Times said 'This is so obviously one of the best novels of the year,' the Observer called it 'Stunning' and author Patrick Gale said it was 'Utterly compelling.' I hope when I release this book it will find someone to love it more than I did.
