Heard some very good things about this one so ordered a copy for myself. Looking forward to it.
I think I'm a bit too old and white to appreciate it fully, but this novel tells an important story set within a world which I confess I rarely read about unless it's in the news.
Starr was an engaging narrator in general, though most of her 'good times' in the books related to stuff (trainers, teenage romance, music, etc) that it's hard for me to identify with as well these days. Her reaction and feelings towards Khalil's death seemed believable, especially as it wasn't static or fixed. There was quite a bit of development as the story played on, and I liked that.
