The prologue sets the stage, in a world divided into Masters and servants, with the servants finally rising up and demanding their freedom. When the Masters strike back, the resulting conflict ends with the Masters being eradicated. The story takes place in the society build by the former servants on the ruins of the Masters' world. But when hordes of zombies start converging on the cities, civilization itself seems doomed, unless a remarkable young man named Freedman can find a way to stop it.
This book is hard to put down, with a fast pace that keeps the reader wanting to know what will happen next. But beneath all that action, there are thoughtful elements that raise deep questions about what it means to be alive and what it means to be human. A remarkably well crafted story.
