I got this hardcover from a local thrift shop. It's by the prolific Oates, some of whose works I've really enjoyed, while others have left me cold. This one, set in a small town and surrounding wilderness in upstate New York, seems to be one of the latter - it didn't draw me in, despite the young-girl-missing-in-the-wilderness plot point.
