I got this little hardcover from an online seller. It's another entry in Vincent's "Enid Blyton for Grownups" series, in which the characters from her "Famous Five" books are shown as adults, but still hanging around being those meddling kids...

While I never read the "Famous Five" books as a child, I dipped into one or two after discovering this parody series, and it's surprisingly apt - and also snarky, which I enjoy. This book was a lot of fun, as it featured the gang telling each other ghost stories, while on a reluctant camp-out. The stories-within-the-story are inspired by various sources, including the darkly-funny movie "American Werewolf in London", Wilde's novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray", and the blue-collar-horror-in-space film "Alien" plus some touches from "Invasion of the Body-snatchers", and I found them all very entertaining.

I left this book in this cute outhouse-style Little Free Library on this drizzly autumn day, while admiring the skeletons-on-display in the yard in the background. Hope someone enjoys it!
