The first book of a duology, this young adult novel follows 14-year-old Brooklynite Viola’s freshman year at a girls-only boarding school in South Bend, Indiana. Viola is an aspiring filmmaker. Despite her initial unhappiness at being sent to boarding school by her documentary filmmaker parents, who are spending the year on a project in Afghanistan, she quickly makes friends with her three roommates and gets involved in various creative projects on campus.
