This is one of the books I bought in the YMCA charity shop in Boroughbridge where they were selling them off at 3 for a £1 yesterday. I'm not sure why I chose it but it looks like fun . . .

Apparently this novel is based on the true story of one of the US's first female deputy sheriffs - but only very loosely!

It takes the reader to small town America in 1914 - 15, to the family of Constance Kopp and her sisters Norma and Fleurette. When their buggy, which in this case refers to a small horse-drawn trap I believe, is badly damaged by a car driven by Henry Kaufman, a local mill owner, they get involved in a feud with one of the most unpleasant men in town - not a good idea . . .

It's OK, didn't really capture my imagination, and I kept putting it aside to read something more entertaining, but it was interesting enough for me to persevere until I'd finished it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This is one of the books I swapped during a sunny ride out this afternoon :-)

Nearly two million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 over thirteen million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!

We were on our way to Northallerton for a short holiday & I wanted to release a couple of books, so we did a detour to the delightful village of Roecliffe. I'd seen on the Phone Box Libraries site that there was a book exchange there, and it was lovely! Very clean & tidy, with some great books. Thank you Nu-knees, fellow bookcrosser, I very rarely catch a wild book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My favourite genre is fact based fiction, and this was a well researched, entertaining novel and ticked all the boxes.
