I got this softcover at a local Savers thrift shop, for another release copy.
I really appreciated these origin stories, as I loved the Cadfael series from my first reading of A Morbid Taste for Bones. (The TV series was excellent, too.) While the novels included various peeks at Cadfael's past, it was great to see his introduction to the abbey that would become his home. The additional stories are enjoyable in their own right - but I do like the level of depth in the novels.
[There's a TV Tropes page on the series and the TV adaptation, with some entertaining tidbits.]
