I got this softcover, the 1985 Newbery Award winner, from Better World Books. It's a distant prequel to The Blue Sword, and deals with Aerin, daughter of a witchwoman and a king, growing up pretty much on her own with the burden of being both a princess and a wielder of powers that she may not be able to control.
