I had my Autumn covid booster jab this morning and got back to find the postman had delivered a parcel of books in my absence: what a very welcome welcome home! Thank you very much, plum-crazy - much appreciated and the timing is impeccable!
I don't recognise the author nor the series but a mystery set in 1884 sounds like my sort of book, thank you :-)

Sergeant Cribb of Great Scotland Yard is charged with infiltrating the Dynamitards and foiling an Irish-American conspiracy, determined to use their Infernal Machines to bomb buildings in London, starting with railway stations and Scotland Yard itself . . .
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, finding the writing style very much to my taste and will happily read more by this author. In fact, I've already brought home a copy of Swing, Swing Together which I came across in the red telephone box book exchange in Linton, near Wetherby a couple of days ago :-)

Thank you for your lovely parcel of goodies which arrived yesterday. This book looks right up my street.
I couldn't put this book down and will be adding further of this author's books to my wishlist. I like it when historical mysteries are based round actual events. Thank you Nu-Knees for another author to add to my list of favourites!
Taking a trip to Leeds today. We're going to investigate the Museum Cafe which has just reopened and see if it's still suitable for a Leeds Bookcrossers meetup. May release the book or may bring it home again.
Returned home with us as the shelf in the cafe is currently only for children's books but we will work on the manager!
I liked it. Nu-Knees liked it and Plum-crazy would probably have liked it and I think you might enjoy it too.
