After Story

Not sure where I got this book, but there are no other copies on Bookcrossing at this time, and it is written by an indigenous writer.
I have just finished reading this book in less than a day. Totally engrossing in the English literary tour an indigenous mother and daughter take, and the story of their family which comes out as the tour progresses. So much grief and family trauma which has been buried and slowly emerges. Also an interesting group of individuals on the tour who slowly sort out relationships and friendships.
I wept during the last few pages when mother Della finally deals with her grief and both her and her daughter Jasmine (Jazzey) reach out to each other and their family members.
I will take this book with me to the UK and hope to visit some of the places mentioned in the book.

Della and Jazzey visited the Charles Dickens Museum (page 62). Della was not so interested and hung back with her own thoughts instead of following the tour. Whilst there, I remembered that I had seen a live very local production of A Christmas Story when I was quite young, under 10 years old. I have not thought about that again until now.
Bronte Country is beautiful. I visited the Bronte Parsonage Museum, the village Church (where the family remains are) and the Bronte Waterfall - a lovely 3 mile walk from the village. When I visited, it was very misty but cleared at the falls. I enjoyed half an hour sitting by the falls before the crowds descended. I released Shirley there, hopefully for another reader.
Well, this book has certainly done quite a tour! I certainly will read it, hopefully I can take it to one of the places mentioned but I think meganh may have covered everything already!
I loved this book, thank you so much for entrusting it to me! All the elements worked together, Jasmine and her mother Della, their companions on the tour and their odd characteristics, Lionel the kindly tour guide and the wonderful places they visited, to keep me totally engrossed in the unfolding story. I particularly liked Della's insights on the historic sights, which were balanced by the more nuanced observations of Jasmine. An excellent juxtaposition!
I may not do much travelling before I pass this book on, but if you visit Bath do take the Bath Walking Tour. It goes every day from outside The Pump Rooms, highly recommended for Austen fans!

This was the book I won in the bookswap game at the Falkirk Convention. Thanks for sharing it, Cassopeia, it looks very good. And it's been on quite a journey already!
