This is a tale of the life of a renowned geisha in the form of a dictated autobiography. Young Chiyo’s father sold her to a house in Kyoto’s famous Gion district. Her tale is so well written, as one comment described, I felt like I was sitting down for tea with Sayori (her Geisha name). The view of a geisha’s life, behind the scenes, in traditional Japanese society. Great storytelling. I learned so much about a world I never knew existed.
