Moving lovestory between two men, in a time and a place where that isn't allowed. They can't even allow themselves their feelings.

It moved me and I've read it twice, but I do not wish to read for the third time that 'he urinates in the sink'. I find that an unnecessary detail.... But that is Annie Proulx for you. Great writer, though!

Ik vond het vreemd dat de film brokeback mountain, die toch heel wat stof deed opwaaien toen het uitkwam destijds, geinspireerd is op zo'n dun boekje. Ik heb daarom toch meegenomen van de meeting in Utrecht.

Kort maar krachtig verhaal met toch een triest randje. Zo zonde dat verliefd zijn op iemand buiten de traditionele norm nog steeds niet geaccepteerd wordt. Al vraag ik me af of het ook echt alleen liefde was of vooral lust. Dat laat het boekje voor mij vrij open. Wel knap dat je in zo weinig pagina's zo'n verhaal kan neerzetten.
