My goodness we were a superstitious lot!🤣🤣
I’m not at all sure where this little bit came from… It seems like it might’ve been one popped in a Christmas stocking

Mini hardcover with dust jacket; illustrations by David McAllister.
The one thing I dislike about little books is that they so often have little print! :p
Claimed from erishkigal's Small Box of Small Books bookbox with thanks.

I didn't read all of this, just bits and pieces. I'd heard of a fair number of the superstitions listed here but I can't imagine trying to keep track of them all and shaping my life around them!
It's interesting to see how superstitions and customs differ from one culture to another. According to this book, in Ireland "a woman who married a man with the same surname, and to whom she was otherwise not related, would have been thought to have the cure for whooping cough." But I had a friend in college whose parents both started with the surname Kim (father from Hawaii and mother from Korea) - and until 1997 it would have been illegal for them to marry in South Korea.
I'm curious about Irish "hot cross buns" since they're described as "a spicy currant bread"..and the ones I've had were actually quite bland other than the icing and the raisins (not currants).
