Kitty Saves the World

This series is one of the few long-running urban fantasy series that I purposefully kept up with throughout its publication. So reaching this final novel was a bit sad and I put off reading it for a little while, not quite ready for it to end. I will miss Kitty’s adventures and Vaughn’s excellent mixture of snark and sincerity. (Although they hold up well to re-reads, so I certainly won’t be missing it entirely!)
This book focuses on the final confrontation between Kitty and her friends against Roman and his squad. Yet as is typical for this series, it isn’t a simple brawl or magic duel, but an elaborate web of human (or mostly-human) connections that will ultimately be the deciding factors in whether Kitty can help prevent an apocalypse.
NOTE: Ex-library book with typical markings

The book arrived safely today; many thanks! I really got into Kitty's adventures via Kitty's Greatest Hits, and in general I find I like the short-story format (and the secondary characters!) best, but this novel sounded too good to resist!
Later: Definitely some epic world-saving here, with the typical snarky banter giving way to major confrontations, and with a highly satisfactory conclusion - not least for the reappearance of one of my favorite characters at just the right time. I appreciated the "nature of good and evil" discussions early on, and the practical examples given by the various good-guy vampires and werewolves. The final battle was definitely a collaborative effort, with even the enigmatic fairies lending a hand.
The wrap-up was also satisfying, though I wished that Cormac didn't have to be such a dick to Rick {wry grin}. And whether Kitty and Ben and their new baby will be able to handle the mix of lycanthropy and parenthood remains to be seen - but given all they've been through so far, they have a fair chance. I hope!
[There's a TV Tropes page for the series, with some entertaining tidbits.]
