(Different cover) From the brilliant John Green - not just for kids(!) - a collaboration, which should be interesting.

(28/08/22) *include spoilers* ’Tiny’ Cooper is a larger-than-life character, as his friend Will Grayson says, the biggest gay (in the school) and the gayest big person. I wasn’t sure about the ages as they drive [USA], so high school, maybe 16/17? The friendships, relationships, and coming-of-age angst are very much Green’s wheelhouse.

The 2 Wills (and more!) have parallel lives that converge by a bizarre set of circumstances involving a fake pen-friend for one and a would-be girlfriend for the other. In the end both Will’s are permanently changed by Tiny, as they begin to engage with the world against their natural introversion and other personality, family & mental health issues. In turn they help to repay Tiny for his friendship with an outpouring of affection and appreciation in the big musical finale! There is an added bonus at the end of the book, a conversation between the authors on how the collaboration worked - especially how the different Will Grayson’s were written with such unique voices, and how elements of the plot evolved. This is a great life-affirming book, John Green can do no wrong, even when he collaborates!
